The two-month digital skills development program “Digital Lab”, an initiative of SOL Network, was successfully completed in early April, aiming to empower and socially integrate unaccompanied minor refugees.

The program was implemented in three accommodation shelters, where young refugees participated in interactive digital skills workshops under the guidance of facilitator Mortaza Hassani, founder of Afghan Geeks. Participants had the opportunity to become familiar with modern digital tools, enhancing their self-confidence and professional prospects.

As part of the initiative, students from Montgomery Bell Academy in the United States visited Greece through Global Brigades Greece and Squads Abroad. The students visited two of the shelters and actively participated in a one-week educational program designed by SOL, to foster collaboration and exchange of experiences with the children residing there.

The program included:

A visit to the Kotsanas Museum of Ancient Greek Technology

Six hours of intensive training on digital tools (such as Canva, ChatGPT, etc.)

Refurbishment of shelter spaces and creation of fully functional digital labs

A significant contribution also came from Montgomery Bell Academy, which donated 12 laptops, substantially strengthening the technological infrastructure of the shelters.

The “Digital Lab” program served as a comprehensive initiative promoting collaboration, intercultural learning, and meaningful exchange among participants, while supporting the social inclusion of unaccompanied minors through education and technology.
